Why is a 3-1 changeover used?

Three phase to single/two phase changeover application is used to protect agricultural/rural feeders from operating from large agricultural loads during power scarcity(voltage drop) or during the non allowed hours of the day.

Arrangement

Two gang operated three pole vacuum circuit breakers with auto reclosing function.

  • One set of gang operated three pole vacuum circuit breaker and one single pole breaker with auto reclosing function
  • One set of gang operated three pole vacuum circuit breaker and a two pole gang operated vacuum circuit breaker with auto reclosing function
  • One set of gang operated vacuum circuit breaker delivers three phase power supply during a certain time of the day and the other set of gang operated vacuum circuit delivers two phase/ single phase supply during a certain time of the day.

How does it work?

  • The changeover occurs when the device senses a voltage drop, scarcity in power generated or for a preset time in the relay
  • The changeover takes place in two ways
    1. Timed changeover in the microprocessor based relay where the time is preset.
    2. This avoids manual intervention and effort at the feeder area Manual changeover.

Advantages

  • This does not affect other consumers domestic consumers who operate on single phase loads
  • All the events, status and readings can be monitored and controlled through SCADA
  • All the advantages of a MACTOR
